A New Name for Where We Are Now

Four years ago, we opened a massage studio in Guildford called Rosedale. It was a good name. Warm, familiar, easy to say. It served us well while we figured out who we were and what kind of studio we wanted to build.

Over those four years, something shifted. Not overnight, but gradually, through hundreds of conversations with clients, through every decision about how the studio should look, feel, and run. We realised that the studio we were becoming was not the studio we started as. The name needed to reflect that.

So we became Amun.

Why Amun

Amun is the ancient Egyptian god of air and breath. It is a name that carries weight without being heavy. It is short, clean, and distinctive. It does not sound like every other massage studio in every other town, and that is the point. We are not trying to blend in. We are trying to be the best version of what a massage studio can be, and we wanted a name that felt like it belonged to that ambition.

The name changed because everything else already had.

What changed in the studio

If you have not visited in a while, you will notice the difference the moment you walk in. The floor is new: blonde oak that feels warm and grounded underfoot. The walls have been moved, repainted, and fitted with walnut furniture that gives the space a richness without making it feel heavy. There is a large mirror from West Elm that opens the room up and catches the light. The lighting on the walls is softer and more deliberate than before. The massage bed is new, a proper spa-grade bed that you feel the quality of the moment you lie down.

And then there is the scent. A forest blend sourced from the Italian Dolomites, made from four Alpine trees. It fills the studio quietly and consistently. You notice it before you notice anything else, and it stays with you after you leave.

None of these changes happened at once. They happened over months, one decision at a time, each one guided by the same question: does this make the experience better for the person on the bed?

Premium without the gatekeeping

There is a version of “premium” that most people associate with exclusivity. Velvet ropes, membership waitlists, price tags that exist to keep people out. That is not what we are building. We believe you can create a genuinely premium experience without making it inaccessible. In fact, we think being small is our advantage.

We have one treatment room. That means every client gets the same level of attention, every time. There is no B-list experience at Amun. The oak floor, the walnut walls, the scent, the bed, the therapist: it is all the same whether you are visiting for the first time or the fiftieth.

Simple shapes every decision we make. How easy it is to park when you arrive. How quickly you can book on our website. How few steps it takes to purchase a gift card or use a membership. How fast a real person responds when you call, email, or use our contact form. Every interaction is with a real person, guaranteed.

We are open seven days a week, bank holidays included, because massage should not be something you can only access Monday to Friday.

What stayed the same

The address is the same. The therapists you know and trust are the same. The quality of the massage, which is the reason you come to us in the first place, has only improved. Your packages, memberships, and gift cards all work exactly as before.

If you have been coming to us as Rosedale, you already know what makes this studio different. The name has changed because we wanted it to match the standard we have set for everything else. The studio you walk into today is the studio we always wanted to build. Now it has a name that fits.

We are still us. We are just called Amun now.
